Virginia State Police reported troopers have responded to more than 1,000 crashes and 900 disabled vehicles as of 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Downed trees and black ice paralyzed the roads for Virginia drivers on Tuesday, so troopers are continuing to ask citizens to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
An unknown number of drivers have been stuck on Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg for over 10 hours since the storm on Monday.
State Police said there were no reported crashes on that stretch of I-95 related to the shutdown, and they do not know just how many disabled vehicles there are in that area are at this time.
