Lamesans are continuing to pick up the pieces from a severe storm Saturday evening which caused damage almost certainly to total in the millions of dollars from high wind, hail, heavy rain and flooding.

Despite the damage, which included almost a dozen RV trailers toppled in an RV park at the northern edge of the city, Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck said about noon Sunday that he is unaware of any significant injuries from the storm.

A number of homes surrounding the Boys and Girls Club Lake in the center of town were evacuated Saturday night as runoff from heavy rainfall caused the lake to overflow its normal boundaries.

Several residents who had returned to remove belongings Sunday morning reported that water had reached knee-deep in their homes on N. Main and the south side of N. 10th St.

Windows in a number of homes throughout town, as well as some auto windows, were shattered by hail, wind, or wind-blown debris.
