Insurance claims on rise; scope of damage unknown

As utility crews race the clock to restore power to area homes before Christmas, local insurance agents are busily handling hundreds of property damage claims. As of Monday afternoon, State Farm Insurance had received 400 claims in Indiana, with about 80 percent from the Fort Wayne area, spokeswoman Missy Lundberg said. Bloomington, Ill.-based State Farm insures 1 in 4 Indiana homes.
