Historic Alabama Mill Torched For Insurance Payout

A man charged with arson in the fire of historic Butler’s Mill has been charged with two additional counts relating to the incident. Court records show Christopher Lynn Phillips, the owner of Butler’s Mill, was charged with two counts of first-degree insurance fraud. He is charged with one count in both Randolph County and in Cleburne County. Court documents show in the Randolph County case that in Sept. 2016, Christoper Phillips provided false information to Western World Insurance Company in order to obtain insurance coverage for Butler’s Mill restaurant. He was released from the county jail on a $60,000 bond.
